Bracken Moor

By Alexi Kaye Campbell
Wednesday 9th - Saturday 12th December
7.45pm (Saturday matinee 3pm), Main Stage

A chilling ghost story for Christmas.

After many years apart, the Pritchards, wealthy Yorkshire mine owners, and the Averys, their London acquaintances, have finally come together to rediscover their lost friendship. Elizabeth Pritchard withdrew from life after the tragic death on Bracken Moor of Edgar, her 12-year-old son.  Memories are stirred, and powerful emotions and tensions brought to the surface, when Terence Avery, a childhood companion of Edgar, appears to become possessed by the spirit of the dead boy.

Set against the gloom of the economic depression of the 1930s, this theatrically bold tale of grief and denial combines more than a hint of the best of J B Priestley’s socially aware drama with the unnerving atmosphere of a classic Dickensian ghost story.

“A superior kind of ghost story – intellectually as well as emotionally haunting.” - The Stage
